Wine Freedom are hosting an art exhibition of Katie’s collection, The Femme, for International Women’s Day.
Accompanied by the release of 100 limited edition Katie Fishlock bottles of wine made by female winemakers, the exhibition is running all month, ending on the 27th of March.
Based in Digbeth, Wine Freedom’s warehouse venue will be showcasing pieces from The Femme, a collection from the Bristol-based artist, Katie Fishlock.
Creations focus on key themes such as gender, sexuality, and identity.
Graduating from Falmouth School of Art, Katie’s artistry is provocative and light-hearted and her goal is to confront the limits around the portrayal of sexuality.
Making her start as a make-up artist and fashion stylist, working with big names like Boy George and Alexander McQueen, Katie then made the transition to artist and has her own private coaching practice.
The Femme was designed and based on self-exploration as well as interviews hosted to discuss the energy and essence of the feminine.
Katie speaks on what this collaboration with Wine Freedom means to her,
“The Femme is inspired by a period where I felt really disconnected from my femininity, as such the works illustrate the delights – and challenges – femininity brings with it. I think it’s really important to start and keep these kinds of conversations alive. To showcase my work on the walls of Wine Freedom will hopefully enable this to happen. I’m so looking forward to the showcase going live just ahead of International Women’s Day this year.”
Showcasing Katie’s vibrant art on large-scale paintings and works on canvas, visitors will have the opportunity to buy one of Katie’s pieces at the exhibition alongside the sale of 100 limited edition house wine bottles which also feature Katie’s artwork.
Wine Freedom is making the celebration of women worldwide extra special this month by showcasing four, female winemakers over the course of their four-week exhibition. Coming from the South of France, the USA and Austria, Wine Freedom will be endorsing one winemaker per week, with a personal wine tasting each weekend for visitors to taste.
Founder of Wine Freedom, Sam Olive expressed how they feel about working with Katie and what their goal is,
“As big fans of Katie’s work we are really excited to be collaborating with her to celebrate International Women’s Day. Wine Freedom is a creative space for people to not only enjoy, but also learn about wine. Our aim for this exhibition is to reach a new audience whilst serving some new and interesting wines from female winemakers.”
Art collection, The Femme, runs from the 4th of March till the 27th at Wine Freedom.
Table bookings can be made on the Wine Freedom website.
