Jam packed with a ray of different emotions, Romo Weeks’ latest project, Other-Land is a 16 track album, including four exclusive remixes for all to get down to.
Money raised from the release will be going towards the cost of private top surgery, a gender affirming surgery that Romo has decided to have since identifying as non binary.
In Romo’s own words,
“For those that don’t know what that [top surgery] is, it’s a surgery that helps to alleviate gender dysphoria. Unfortunately wait times for trans healthcare on the NHS are years long, which is why most people, myself included have to go privately. Surgery costs around £7000, so I’ve decided to try and make a start on raising the money by selling this tape.”
Each song has a special and unique meaning, an intimate collation of tunes Romo Weeks has made over the past few years. In some ways this project feels like a celebration of what was and what is to come, a beautiful score to the film of life.
Some of our favourites are: I Want You Better, Alice & Dana which are both comforting and joyous and Sucker 4 Luv which samples the 2Pac classic Do For Love.
The bossy energy that The Queen of The South remix carries is ridiculous, there is a sound for everyone on this project, something we’re sure they set out to achieve.
