From skincare miracle worker, to reducing anxiety and relieving pain, it’s no wonder CBD has rocketed in popularity in recent years.

Cannabidiol, more widely known as CBD, has expanded from oils and balms, to edibles, drinks and you can now buy it for your pets!

The UK has the largest share of the CBD market in Europe with as estimated share of around £110m. Furthermore, in recent times, researchers have found a compound in CBD may have some protective potential against Covid-19.

Future Science conducted a study on CBD which found that the compounds may make it easier for the body to recover by reducing the large amount of inflammation associated with the virus.

Although research is still ongoing, early anecdotal evidence suggests CBD can significantly reduce anxiety levels in people who experience social anxiety as well as post-traumatic stress disorder.

After struggling with sensitive skin and severe Eczema since birth, Leah Mitchell and her mother, Yvonne Weir, eventually discovered the benefits CBD had on her skin.

This lead the duo to set up their own cosmetic CBD business in Birmingham, Saffi.Isaacs.

They say:

“CBD offers a three-pronged skincare approach it’s anti-ageing, anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory. In terms of an antioxidant on the skin, it provides a missing particle that a free radical can bond with, stopping it from going on to cause DNA damage. As for anti-inflammatory properties, we know that skin ageing and inflammation go hand in hand, and CBD helps to combat oxidative stress.”

In their mission statement they said:

“Saffi.Isaacs is a family business run by women with the vision of a better world: one where people can enhance the quality of their lives in natural ways without risking their health. Our mission is to create premium cannabinoid wellness products we would not only use ourselves but, also share with our family and friends.”

Saffi.Isaacs sell a range of bath bombs, soaps, massage bars and beard oils which aim at targeting acne, ageing, dry skin, eczema, sensitive skin and oily skin. Their products only use natural and organic ingredients with eco-friendly packaging.

Their products are available to order through their website or in store at Minor Formula, the National Hemp Service, Northern Lights Coffee Shop and City Centre Convenience.

Dutchy Labs is another Brummie owned CBD business that sell delicious smelling products for everyone.
