FUTUREPAST ZINE Celebrates Issue 10 @ Dark Horse Moseley

Footwork, jungle and drum and bass can be hard to come by in Birmingham, but trust those who put the nights on when they do, especially when they have supported the genius that is Mala. This night is a celebration of issue #10 of Futurepast Zine and will no doubt embody the essence of Brum’s DIY culture and love of the unconventional. Taking place at the Dark Horse, Mosely and free entry all night, this will be one to have a stomp at for sure.

Critical Sound @ The Blackbox

Ivy Lab, Alix Perez and Kasra take over the Blackbox with their diverse, electronic, bass driven sounds. If the Futurepast night is the customised, cut ‘n’ sew clothing, this will be the ironed, white shirt. The dark setting, low ceiling, lasers lights and DJ cage will be the perfect environment for the Critical Sound clan and everyone to party hard in.

Cool Runnings Open Air Screening @ The Old Crown

After transforming The Old Crown into a cosy den for Home Alone in December, The Travelling Cinema Company are back for their summer instalment. Keeping all things Caribbean with a Jerk BBQ, rum cocktails, reggae and of course Cool Runnings. Film screening at 8pm but get down early to grasp those tropical vibes!

From the darkness of Friday comes the silliness of Saturday! New night; 99 Flake hits Spotlight. Puns knickerbocker-galore-y with delectable DJs playing a mix of disco, hip-hop, soul and partying all the way into sundae. This ice-cream inspired night will have you dancing into a frenzy, but not to worry Mr Whippy will be there to keep you sufficiently cool throughout the night. Tickets only 99p.

With a name to rival most, Unspeakable Deviance returns to The Sunflower Lounge for their second installment this Sunday. With LA inspired beats and live MCs check this one out if you’re a fan of ‘the sound of tomorrow; Soulection or are a trip-hop, trap head. The chamber opens from 8pm.
