● 13th April 2016 – Music

The words on everyone’s lips “rave in a cave is postponed.” However, it’s probably for the best, who knows how long that cave could have gone on for. Instead, there are some ace nights around the city supporting a spectrum of talent straight outta the West Midlands. All around the £5 mark too, so check them out and snap ‘em up. Here are the events Before the Sol selects this week:

Wednesday 13th April
Howl Ft. Luci Hammans, Alisha Yasmin Kadir & Baz Mason @ the Dark Horse

First on the line up is some spoken word at the Dark Horse in Mosely. Featuring three talented Brummies reciting their best rhymes. Political, poetical and no holds barred. Check it out if you want some food for thought and a nice pint. £3 entry, doors 7.30pm.

Wednesday 13th April
SKIT ft. BIG DOG YOGO & DAN ODDYSEE + special guests @ The Sunflower Lounge

It’s that time of the month again, SKIT is back showcasing the finest hip-hop artists. If you like rhymes but want a more party environment the Sunflower Lounge is the place to head. £3 entry for a guaranteed live night.

Friday 15th April

Digbeth’s naughty, little secret, PST, has some smoking nights on this weekend. The first of which is this festa! Bringing the Brazilian vibrancy to Birmingham for an evening of Caipirinhas, dub, DJs, and live percussion. £3 before midnight, £5 after.

Saturday 16th April

Time for a quick kip and then back to PST for launch night of new party focused on the harmony between its attendees, Concorde. An intimate, basement rave for those who love jungle, reggae and drum and bass. A great line up of Birmingham residents here as well. There’s no need to leave either as they serve food throughout the night. Support from Before the Sol too! £3 before midnight, £5 after.

Saturday 16th April
Listening Sessions & Circular Jaw present: Blackdown & Parris @ Club PST

Another great concept behind a night, Listening Sessions are PST veterans. Running their event at the venue since December 2013, they showcase under the radar DJs and producers in the UK bass music scene. This time they bring Blackdown from the label Keysound Recordings to Birmingham for some heavy bass lines and dark sounds. Yilan from the collective Circular Jaw has done an exclusive mix for BabMag, check it out here to get a taste of what’s to come on Saturday. Tickets are selling online for £5 plus a booking fee.

PST looks to be the perfect place to be this weekend if you want to emerge yourself in good music and good people.
